Blog Post 3 - Hotels or Serviced Accommodation?

What to Choose if You're a Contractor?

When you’re working away from home, finding the right place to stay isn’t just about price — it’s about comfort, space, and convenience.
If you’ve ever tried to keep a team comfortable in a hotel for weeks, you know the struggle — limited space, no cooking facilities, and costs that quickly add up.

Hotels or Serviced Accommodation? Choice for every contractor

💎 Based on our experience in the Serviced Accommodation sector, here’s why more and more contractors are switching to serviced apartments and houses:

  • More Space, More Comfort
Each of our properties offers fully furnished rooms, ensuite options, and large living areas — perfect for relaxing after a long day on site.

  • Huge Savings for Longer Stays
Hotel bills can skyrocket on longer projects. At MD Accommodation, we typically provide weekly or monthly rates that make long-term stays far more affordable — often saving 30–40% compared to hotels.

  • Fully Equipped Kitchens
Cook your own meals, make packed lunches, or just enjoy a proper breakfast before work. Having a kitchen saves money and gives you the flexibility hotels can’t.

  • High-Speed Wi-Fi and On-Site Parking
Every property comes with fast internet, parking for vans, and easy access to major routes — ideal for contractors working around Coventry, Birmingham, and the Midlands (and not only due to our network of properties across the UK).

  • Flexible Booking and Team Support
Whether you need one night, one month, or longer, we make bookings simple. We can accommodate small or large teams and provide single or shared rooms depending on budget and preference.

Now, all of this sounds wonderful on paper. The government presents it as a step toward fairness and balance. But if you’ve been in the property game long enough, you’ll know the scale is already heavily tipped.

👷 Who We Typically Work With:

We regularly host:

  • Construction crews and subcontractors

  • Electrical, plumbing, and HVAC engineers

  • Rail and infrastructure teams

  • IT and telecom installation teams

  • Surveyors, inspectors, and project managers

  • Overseas business people

Our mission is simple: to make every worker feel at home, even when they’re away from home. Recently we even hosted a business person coming from India, who arrived with her parents to make her stay more enjoyable whilst spending great family time.

🏚️ How Does This Actually Work?

It's actually quite simple - check out our website, where we list our properties just to give you better understanding of our stock. Then just head over to our contact form and identify what property is of your interest and for how long. Based on that we can provide you with our price.

💡 Our Take — Where Things Are Heading

Although many people use hotels, contractors and traders often choose serviced accommodation providers.

It's more cost effective, whilst providing more comfort especially for groups of contractors within the same team.

Whilst it's OK to stay in a hotel room for 1-2 days, for longer period of time it becomes boring and less comfortable in hotel rooms.

Me personally - I have a lot of experience with hotel rooms with poor internet access and issues with parking.

So nowadays every time I'm going away, I'm checking serviced accommodation options. So can you ;)

🔑 Final Thought

The choice is always yours, but if you can save some money on expensive accommodation in hotels, then why not?

Go ahead and check out various options we provide and we will make sure you're pleased with our flexible solutions.
